Please join me in welcoming our SUTIL Featured Member for this month: Val Koroluk from Carlton Trail College! She has been serving as the Marketing Facilitator at the college for almost seven years, however, her SUTIL days of travelling Saskatchewan actually started long before that. Keeping the same theme of education, she worked for St. Peter’s College for six years, where she also worked in conjunction with SUTIL!
Val’s interests extend far beyond travelling the province and working at the Carlton Trail however. Some of her hobbies include going for walks, cross country skiing, and indoor gardening (and keep in mind, this was before it was the cool COVID thing to do!). She describes her biggest quirk being the fact that she talks to her plants, a true sign of a lady with a healthy green thumb and thriving relationship with her greenery! Besides that, her dog, a very energetic Havanese named Minnie, keeps her occupied… especially since the little one pictured below gets freshly cooked steak every morning!
Due to the monotonous repetition, Val said that the job she would hate most would be a factor worker, and holds a high appreciation for people who are! She loves taking on challenges, being creative, learning something new, and meeting new people. In closing, Val’s advice to grade twelve students is this: “If a student can’t decide what path to take, I would encourage them to think in terms of what they definitely don’t want to do, and also what they might not mind doing. Sometimes the list of the things you don’t want to do is just as important and the list of things you may want to consider.”
